Shannon Blakey, PhD, HSP-P (she/her)
*I am currently accepting new clients.
I’m a licensed psychologist and certified health services provider in North Carolina. I specialize in the nature and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and anxiety disorders, as well as commonly co-occurring conditions such as depression and alcohol misuse. I also value supporting service members and veterans navigating the transition from military to civilian life. I’m a nationally recognized expert in exposure-based therapies for PTSD, OCD, and anxiety disorders. Exposure therapy is a time-limited, results-oriented approach that helps people overcome thought and behavior patterns holding them back from living their desired life. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, live music, volunteering with The Honor Foundation, and exploring all that makes Durham unique.
Do you live outside of North Carolina? I’m approved by the PSYPACT Commission to provide telepsychology across state boundaries. For a list of current PSYPACT participating states, visit psypact.org/psypactmap.
Are you a military service member or veteran? I provide PTSD treatment at no cost to military community clients through The Headstrong Project. To learn more and self-refer, visit theheadstrongproject.org. If your mental health concerns are not related to PTSD, please contact me to discuss treatment options tailored to your goals.
